I am a postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute of Future Media, Democracy & Society at Dublin City University (Ireland) and a research associate at the Centre for Deliberative Democracy and Global Governance (University of Canberra, Australia).

Between 2016 and 2022, I have been a research fellow and senior lecturer in political theory at Helmut Schmidt University (Hamburg).

I am also a co-convenor of the PSA's Participatory and Deliberative Democracy Specialist Group, a co-convenor of the DVPW’s Teaching and Learning Specialist Group and an Associate Editor of the interdisciplinary Journal Democratic Theory as well as a member of the Switzerland-based DemocracyNet.

I hold a MA in philosophy and political science and a PhD in political science from Heidelberg University. From 2014 until 2017, I worked as a lecturer at the departments of political science and philosophy at Heidelberg University.

My research focuses on theories of democratic legitimacy, theoretical and empirical studies of deliberative democracy, and approaches aiming at decolonizing democratic theory.
